Street barbecue

BY Berton Gladstone 2020-05-15

September 27, 2008 Chongqing Evening News reported on September 27, 2008 that nitrite was mistakenly used as a sugar mix cold noodle, and 6 people in Chongqing died of 3 people. The specific incidents are as follows. At noon on September 24, when the villagers of the Jiang family in Guanlong Village, Dashi Township, Hechuan District mixed cold noodles at home, they mistakenly used the nitrite in the refrigerator as white sugar, which caused the poisoning of 6 people in the whole family and killed 3 people. . Yesterday was the birthday of the poisoned little girl Jiang Chao. After the poisoning incident, 70-year-old grandpa Jiang Xinghua, 8-year-old cousin Tang Zhi and 5-year-old brother Jiang Hangyu left her forever.

After a joint investigation by the Hechuan District Public Security Bureau, Health Bureau, Safety Supervision Bureau, and Quality Supervision Bureau, the accidentally consumed nitrite was brought home by Tang Chuanchun, the daughter-in-law of the deceased Jiang Xinghua. Tang Chuanchun operated a barbecue in Jiugong Temple, Dadukou District. When he returned to his hometown recently, he brought some of the remaining nitrite home and put it in the refrigerator. Later, people in the family mistakenly thought that the nitrite in the refrigerator was white sugar, so they put the "white sugar" into glassware.

While saddening by this accident, I have to remind everyone not to eat on the street. When grilling meat on the street, using nitrite to soak the skewers can keep the skewers fresh, beautiful in color, and does not affect its taste (nitrite also has a salty taste, which can replace table salt), which is almost an open secret. Nitrite is a food additive that is allowed in limited quantities in meat products (such as ham sausage). However, when it is used for barbecue on the street, no one cares about the standard at all, and it often causes poisoning. And, more seriously, chronic nitrite intake can cause cancer.

Therefore, I have always strongly opposed eating barbecue on the streets (many of them are operated without a license, or with a photo is equal to without a license). If you want to eat barbecue, don’t be greedy for cheap, hygiene is a big thing. No one pays attention to food safety. You have to work hard to make money. You have to buy it to save money. You don’t care about it. Therefore, there will be endless safety practices like melamine-ah-no way!< /p>
