Is hamburger junk food

BY Berton Gladstone 2020-05-04

As a masterpiece of foreign fast food, hamburgers have received low ratings almost all the time. However, there is no food that is inherently junk food, which is caused by improper cooking and processing methods. Not only hamburgers, but also dumplings are easily cooked and processed into junk food.

The hamburger is mainly composed of two slices of buns (that is, hamburger blanks) sandwiched with a piece of meat patty, meat piece, and ham (or with other foods, such as vegetable leaves, sauces, etc.). The main nutritional problems in hamburger are:

  1. The hamburger blank contains more fat, and currently, "hydrogenated vegetable oil" is mostly used, which contains more "trans fatty acid", which is harmful of. This problem also exists in quite a few ordinary breads. If you do not use hydrogenated vegetable oil and reduce the amount of oil used in the bread during processing, you can solve this problem.

   2. Meatloaf is actually a meat pie. The quality of the meat used to make the filling is worth paying attention to. In order to reduce costs, some enterprises or fast food restaurants use low-quality meat, even leftovers and leftovers to make fillings. After "careful" seasoning, you can''t eat them at all. This problem also exists in dumplings made by food processing companies or restaurants. Just like dumplings, this problem can be solved if you make it at home and choose the best reliable meat stuffing to make the burger.

   3. To make it more delicious, too much fat is added to the meatloaf filling, and it is often animal oil (butter, cream). Animal oil contains more saturated fatty acids, which is not conducive to health. Even vegetable oil is harmful if used too much. The same is true for dumplings. It is also harmful if you add a large amount of vegetable oil or animal oil to "eat one bit of oil" for the sake of deliciousness. Therefore, use less vegetable oil in meat fillings and do not use animal oils to avoid making hamburgers or dumplings into junk food.

   4. When using fried meat to make burgers, such as chicken thigh, the quality of the meat is generally better than the meat filling, but deep-fried is bound to bring a lot of fat, and the current restaurant, food processing enterprises Hydrogenated vegetable oils (containing trans fatty acids) are commonly used during frying. Therefore, instead of frying, you can use roasting, frying, etc. to cook meat with less oil.

  5. Burgers produced by food processing companies are placed on the shelves of supermarkets for sale without refrigeration. To avoid spoilage and deterioration, preservatives are often used. In order to improve the color and fragrance, it is also possible to use other food additives. These all increase the safety hazard of Hamburg and reduce its nutritional quality.

   6. Missing vegetables. The vegetables carried in burgers are generally too few, and most of them are just decorations, which can hardly play a nutritional role, which is not conducive to balanced nutrition. When making dumplings, the same problem will occur if the filling has more meat and less vegetables. If you can increase the amount of vegetable entrainment, or when you eat burgers with some vegetables, you can solve this problem.

In short, instead of blaming a certain food for junk food and opposing consumption, it is better to reflect on the source of the problem and start improving it. Both Western-style burgers and Chinese-style dumplings will become junk food because of poor processing (for the sake of deliciousness, speed and cost reduction, regardless of nutritional quality).
