Baby rice noodles are not ordinary rice noodles

BY Berton Gladstone 2020-05-07

Today, someone asked me a question. When adding supplementary food for babies from 4 to 6 months, they usually use special infant formula rice flour. So, is it better to use rice porridge?

must be clear When infants add supplementary foods, infant formula rice noodles are one of the preferred supplements. As the name suggests, "rice vermicelli" is rice flour. However, baby rice noodles are completely different from ordinary rice noodles or ordinary rice noodles. In fact, baby rice flour is a fortified food, that is, rice flour is used as a raw material, and a variety of vitamins and minerals are added. According to the compulsory national standard GB10767-1997 "Infant Formula Powder and Infant Supplemental Cereal Flour General Technical Conditions" for infant formula rice flour products, the content of various nutrients in infant rice powder is: protein ≥5%; carbohydrate ≥60% ( (Sucrose ≤20%); Vitamin A1000-3900IU/100g; Vitamin D200-600IU/100g; Vitamin B1, B2 ≥200ug/100g; Niacin ≥3000ug/100g; Calcium ≥300mg/100g; Phosphorus ≥225mg/100g; Iron ≥6mg/100g; zinc ≥2.5mg/100g. In terms of protein and carbohydrate content, baby rice noodles are not significantly different from ordinary rice, but the content of various vitamins (especially vitamins A and D) and minerals (especially calcium, iron and zinc) is significantly higher than ordinary Rice. Therefore, the nutritional value of infant rice noodles is much higher than ordinary rice (porridge or other), which is more in line with the nutritional needs of infants. In other words, ordinary rice porridge cannot replace baby rice noodles.

In order to better control the quality of baby rice noodles, the national standards GB10769-1997 "Infant and Weaning Supplementary Food" and GB10770-1997 "Infant and Weaning Supplementary Food" also stipulate more indicators and technologies The requirements are also stricter. A qualified infant formula must be of high quality and safer than ordinary rice.
