For children with asthma, choose Chinese medicine or Western medicine
The newly admitted young patient, 5 years old, girl, has a bad spirit and is coughing constantly on his father''s shoulder. As soon as the stethoscope touched the back of the child, I heard a high-pitched wheezing sound. I quickly called the intern student I brought and said to him: "You listen, this is called wheezing, a typical child with an acute asthma attack." When we asked for a consultation, the child suddenly vomited, Spit a lot of things...
This is a child with an acute asthma attack and infection. It is the second time to come to our hospital. This time, the child has a fever and accompanied by obvious gasping. The parents entrusted acquaintances to our hospital.
Half a year ago, the child was diagnosed with asthma in the outpatient clinic, and the infusion in the outpatient clinic improved after a few days. The professor advised the child to take medication for a long time, and the parents refused. They think it was caused by the child''s poor resistance, and took the child to a famous Chinese medicine hospital for treatment...
I asked the child''s mother why she did not want to receive long-term treatment. The child''s mother explained this way:
1. After the child wheezes, after the outpatient treatment, it will be better, it may not get again, and no long-term treatment is needed.
2. If the child gets sick repeatedly, it must be caused by poor resistance, and it should not recur after adjustment by Chinese medicine.
3. Inhaled drugs are hormones and have serious side effects. They have concerns.
But after taking Chinese medicine, still did not prevent the recurrence of asthma. The family members asked around and finally decided to come to our hospital again to receive Western medical treatment.
There are many parents with similar concerns, mainly caused by incomplete understanding of childhood asthma treatment. Childhood asthma, unlike adults, requires lifelong treatment because children’s airways are developing and are very malleable. A considerable number of children develop airways gradually with age and can achieve a good clinical cure. Once the diagnosis of asthma is confirmed, the current treatment is mainly Western medicine inhalation therapy. The effect is very certain, and the side effects are very small.
Why did Chinese medicine not cure the child’s asthma, is it ineffective? No!
I only talk about my personal experience, I am a doctor of Western medicine, and I never reject Chinese medicine, the motherland I will always love medicine. However, at present, Chinese medicine is not as effective as Western medicine in the treatment of asthma, especially acute attacks of asthma, and the treatment of Chinese medicine has not been recognized by foreign medical circles at present. Therefore, the development is very slow.
At present, the treatment of childhood asthma is based on the good control of Western medicine and assisted treatment with traditional Chinese medicine. This is the key to the child’s early recovery.
