The disease is "resistant"

BY Iris Wheatley 2020-04-12

A friend moved to the United States not long ago. The child is 3 years old and suddenly has a high fever of 39 degrees with abdominal pain and vomiting (non-jetting). After the family doctor''s examination, the child was only given antipyretics and water, and then the child was observed at home. No antibiotics, no injections, no blood tests.

"Resistance" for a day, the child''s mother was anxious and called me overseas, saying that the child had burned for a whole day, vomiting as soon as he ate, high fever, just want to sleep, intermittent stomach pain. I listened to her narrative and suggested that she take the child to check the blood routine and, if necessary, do an abdominal ultrasound. The child''s mother contacted his private doctor. The doctor said that no more than 40 degrees, there is no need for blood routine, the belly is soft, and there is no need for abdominal ultrasound. On the third day of observation, the doctor still asked them to observe the treatment and only took antipyretics. She called me again for help. I learned that the child had vomiting, but compared with three days ago, there was no obvious increase and the fever remained 39 degrees, but the spirit is very good after the fever recedes. I asked her if she could take her child to the emergency department. The child''s mother said that in the United States, unless the temperature is higher than 40 degrees, the condition is very serious before she can see the emergency department.

The child’s mother complained on the phone and said that she did not expect to see a doctor in the United States as well as China. Although the queue for Chinese doctors is long, at least in China, parents have a lot of initiative. Any medicine you want can be discussed with your doctor. Talking, the child''s mother cried and cried when she got a headache. I saw that the child''s mother was about to collapse, so I gave her a bad idea. I suggested that she make a ghost for the thermometer and set the temperature to 40 degrees, and then go to the emergency department, at least check the blood routine, so that you can get a preliminary Determine whether the child is serious or not, and whether there is a bacterial infection. The child''s mother finally took her to the emergency department as she wished. At the strong request of a friend, the child did a blood routine and abdominal ultrasound. The doctor said that the problem was not big, and the test sheet was not provided to the parents, and the children were still given antipyretic drugs for observation.

On the fourth day, the mother did not call me. On the fifth day, her phone finally came, and there was joy and excitement in her voice. She said that for the first time, she had experienced the process of her child''s disease "resistance". In China, she never thought that her child''s disease could be improved like this. The child had a high fever for three days, did not take antibiotics, and did not have injections or infusions. Too. She was very excited.

I personally felt the experience of my friend and child''s medical treatment in the United States.

By contrast, our Chinese children look happy, they want to get an injection, they want to take a medicine, they take a medicine, they want a test, they want a test, they want a doctor to deal with it actively, but here it is How many children have been over-treated?

Of course, this child’s case cannot represent all the children’s situation, and Chinese parents must not blindly imitate the method in the story to treat the child’s disease.

Can disease be carried over? How to carry it over? How to be a wise parent?
