BY Carol Carey 2020-07-27

We all know that dogs are usually vaccinated against rabies after being bitten by dogs, because rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by rabies virus, and zoonosis is common in carnivores such as dogs, wolves, and cats. Infected by being bitten by a sick animal. The clinical manifestations are peculiar hydrophobia, fear of wind, pharyngeal muscle spasm, and progressive paralysis. So when will the rabies vaccine be administered?

< p>When is the rabies vaccine administered? The rabies vaccine is generally administered under these two conditions:

  1. Prevention after bite.

For general bites, that is, mild abrasions, scratches, or damaged skin without bleeding from the skin are licked, it should be on 0 (day 1, the day of injection), 3 (page 4 days, and so on), 7, 14 and 30 days, each injection of the vaccine 1 ampoule.

For severe bites, in addition to injecting the vaccine as described above, double the amount of vaccine should be injected on days 0 and 3, and the anti-rabies serum should be used at the same time as the injection on day 0. Where combined use of anti-rabies serum or immunoglobulin, must After the entire injection of the vaccine, the 2-3 injections of the vaccine should be strengthened, that is, one injection should be strengthened on the 15th, 75th day, or the 10th, 20th, and 90th days after the full injection.

Vaccination for 1 day Before injection of anti-rabies serum, chronic patients such as cirrhosis, immunodeficiency, taking immunosuppressive drugs, the elderly, severe malnutrition and immunization only 48 hours after a bite, should add 2-3 at the time of initial planting Only by doubling the amount of vaccine and injecting into different parts can we get better immune effect. In addition, although some are minor injuries, the amount of invaded virus is large or the nerves are rich, and there may also be cases where the incubation period is short and the vaccine is ineffective.

   2. No bite prevention.

Preventive injections for healthy people who have not been bitten can be given 3 injections on days 0, 7, and 21. Strengthen 1 stitch after 1 year, and then strengthen 1 stitch every 1-3 years thereafter.

Effective period of rabies vaccine After injection of human rabies vaccine self-produced antibodies, its immunization period is 6 months. This 6-month period means that if the dog is injured again within 6 months after injection, the injection is not necessary. vaccine.

During rabies vaccination or within 6 months after the detection of anti-rabies antibody production, if you are bitten by a normal healthy dog, you can immediately wash the wound thoroughly with plenty of soapy water without having to be vaccinated. Suspected rabies bites should be given two shots of vaccine on days 0 and 7.
