The older generation said that they should not eat radishes while taking medicine. Why?

When eating traditional Chinese medicine, you should not eat radishes, of course, except for some medicines that take qi and phlegm. The reason why radishes cannot be eaten during this period is because radishes have the effects of digesting and breaking qi, especially when taking nourishing Chinese medicines such as ginseng and astragalus.
