Female  46 years old 2018-06-07
I have been smoking for more than ten years, and have been coughing recently. I want to quit smoking. Is it possible for my body to recover from quitting smoking?

Quitting smoking will slowly restore the body's function. Although the smoker will quit smoking, the body will gradually heal the damage caused by smoking, but this does not mean that the body can fully restore the state before smoking. The risk of heart disease may not be higher than that of ordinary people, but the risk of lung cancer and emphysema remains high, even if you have quit smoking for decades.
