Smoking is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Quitting smoking can significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It has been reported that people who quit smoking for more than 4 years have a lower cardiovascular disease risk than those who continue to smoke 54%. As a reminder, smoking must be completely quit, and drinking alcohol can still be a small amount (not more than 20 grams of alcohol per day), a small amount of drinking will not increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
