What are the types of uterine malformations

BY Carol Carey 2019-12-07

Uterine malformation is a common type of genital malformation, and there are many types. If there are two sets of uterus, fallopian tube and ovary, it is a double uterus; a horn is formed on each side of the uterus, and a double horn uterus appears; a single horn uterus, a residual horn uterus, and a mediastinal uterus are also common uterine malformations, among which the mediastinum The uterus is the most common and most dangerous and requires timely treatment.

Uterine developmental deformity is a reproductive organ deformity One of the more common ones, although some patients have uterine malformations, but because there are no obvious symptoms of discomfort, so they do not know that they have this disease. It was only when menstrual abnormalities and infertility problems occurred that the uterine malformation was found in the hospital. There are many types of uterine malformations, both uterus and mediastinal uterus are uterine malformations. So, what are the types of uterine malformations?
  1. Double uterus
When double uterus appears, it means that the patient has two sets of uterus, fallopian tube and ovary. Under normal circumstances, the double uterus can also be normal pregnancy, usually a normal uterus pregnancy, sometimes the double uterus can conceive gestational sac at the same time. Therefore, this uterine malformation appears, but there are no obvious symptoms of discomfort, and generally no special treatment is needed.
  2. Double-horned uterus
When this uterine malformation occurs, a horn will grow on each side of the patient’s uterus, which is smaller than the normal uterus. Therefore, miscarriage may occur early in pregnancy. Women with fertility requirements who need to be diagnosed with this uterine malformation need surgery in time before pregnancy.
  3. Single-horned uterus
This deformed uterus looks like leaves and pears in appearance, and has poor development. If the volume of the deformed uterus is similar to the normal volume of the uterus, normal pregnancy is possible; if the volume of the deformed uterus is relatively small, the possibility of normal pregnancy will be very small.
  4. Residual horn uterus
This uterine malformation is beside the large uterus, and there is also a very small uterus. Some small uterus may have no function of solid tissue, and some small uterus has a normal endometrium, which has certain functions and is prone to ectopic pregnancy. In severe cases, it may cause uterine rupture, so it needs surgical treatment in time before pregnancy.
  5. Mediastinal uterus
This is a relatively common uterine malformation and the most dangerous uterine malformation. The patient is very prone to miscarriage, premature delivery, or dystocia due to incorrect fetal position; postpartum placenta may also adhere to the mediastinum, and placental stagnation may occur. Therefore, such a deformed uterus is found during pregnancy, it is best to surgically remove the tumor in time to prevent danger during pregnancy.
